So, you just got one of those inexpensive Mac computers for your birthday or Christmas and want to play all the latest and greatest game titles out like Madden NFL, World of Warcraft and The Sims. But then you learn about something called “GMA 950.” on your Mac Mini. What’s that? Must be some cool feature or geek speak.
With your new Mac OS X Operating System (See ya, Bill!), you surf over to the Apple Games website with Safari and find a ton of games to buy online 24 hours a day, but hidden somewhere deep down among the screenshots and reviews reads “Intel GMA950 chipset not supported….” I’m afraid that’s you, Mini gamer, But, wait… maybe you can buy an upgrade!
There are upgrades available for your Mac Mini. Alas, none of them will remove the tiny, 64MB built-in video card without extreme modifications including buying a new case, motherboard, etc. After that your Mac isn’t looking so Mini and you’ve voided every warranty known to AppleCare. Don’t cry. These weren’t games you were going to buy anyway…

Maybe I lied. You probably want to play one of those games. Too bad none of them can be played on your Mac Mini in a quality or frame rate you can tolerate. It looks like 2008 may not be the Year of The Mini. The good news, however, is that your Mac Mini is perfectly suitable to play Disney’s Ratatouille, almost like it was made for it! Now aren’t you glad you got a Mini?
