Recently, I had the idea of using OpenDNS on my iPod Touch. OpenDNS is “the leading provider of free security and infrastructure services that make the Internet safer through integrated Web content filtering, anti-phishing and DNS.” Basically, it makes the web safer and faster. I’ve been using OpenDNS for awhile, and I can attest to its awesomeness.
Now that you know what OpenDNS is, how do you go about setting it up on your iPhone/iPod? It’s simple, really: on your device, go into Settings -> WiFi and press that little blue arrow by your WiFi network. Scroll down to DNS and change it to “208.67.222.222”. Now you should be using OpenDNS.
How can you be sure it’s working? Go into Safari and type in some nonsense in the address field such as “thisisnotarealwebsite.com”. If you’re using OpenDNS, it’ll take you to guide.opendns.com.
Note: I can only assure you that this’ll work on WiFi. I have no idea if it’ll work on EDGE or 3G as I don’t have an iPhone.

The next time I read a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I know it was my option to learn, however I truly thought youd have one thing interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you could fix for those who werent too busy looking for attention.

Awesome. Thanks. My speed greatly increased over default ISP DNS.

@ Idalia56….
You should set up open dns in your router. https://www.opendns.com/start/router They should have a guide there for you. If you use open dns and set it up like the instruction on this site, your son could probably easily bypass it.
Also to set up opendns to block porn you have to sign and create an account then click on “settings” and choose one of the settings or customize it yourself.

You have to set OpenDNS to block Porn; it doesn’t do it automatically for you.
