Thanks goes out to Osmac for his find and Gbonilla for his original post
***Just note that these drivers are for people whos computer shipped with a native resolution of 1440×900 and now they don’t have QE/CI support. It is not for anyone else who wants to add 1440×900 to their list of supported solutions because it will not give you QE/CI support***
Recently, many people have been wondering how to get QE/CI support on their Inspiron 1525s that came with a native resolution of 1440×900. Until now, this was impossible except on Kalyway 10.5.2 for some odd reason. Well that “odd reason” has been discovered. Kalyway 10.5.2 was installed with different GMA x3100 drivers that supported this higher resolution so through using those kexts, QE/CI has been achieved on 10.5.6 only.
These kexts, like many others, can be classified as one of the easier fixes to install. Just remove AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and then use Kext Helper to install the 6 files included in the download. You should have full support for QE/CI after a reboot.I do not have a 1490×900 resolution screen so I cannot try these kexts. First backup your system, install the kexts, and then let us know how it goes.
***Just note that what you will see in your Display section of System Preferences will not be the same as the picture don’t be alarmed when you reboot and your system preferences looks different***

I’m not aware of any kexts for 1440×900 screens for Snow Leopard.

Has anybody tried these kexts out yet, and if so, how did they work for you?

I’ve been hearing about the larger resolution woes for a very long time. Hopefully this does the trick. Thanks to everyone who worked on this.
