Powerful People That Use A Mac

Apple / Mac

There are a bunch of websites all over the Internet that show Hollywood stars and studios that are powered by Apple’s computers, but what about the real powerful people? No, I’m not talking about Harrison Ford. I’m talking about “Gazillionaires,” Presidents, and Kings. The real movers and shakers.

I’ve come up with a list of very important people in today’s changing times who now use a Mac. This is in no way an “official” or complete list. Just some of my favorite people (And not-so-favorite) who I love even more now that they’re free of the Microsoft empire.

Powerful Mac Users:

  • Barack Obama (U.S. President-elect at time of writing)
  • Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud (King of Saudi Arabia)
  • Al Gore (Former U.S. Vice President)
  • Carl Bildt (Swedish Foreign Minister)
  • George W. Bush (U.S. President at time of writing)
  • Dmitry Medvedev (Russian President)
  • Rupert Murdoch (Global Media Mogul)
  • Bill Clinton (Former U.S. President)
  • Larry Ellison (Oracle Corporation)
  • Sergey Brin (Google Co-founder)
  • Larry Page (Google Co-founder)

How many powerful people in money or position can you name that’s not on this list? Post ’em here with some sort of confirmation such as a news article, photo, or qoute and I’ll add to this list! Remember, we’re not talking just puny millionaries or Hollywood stars here.

I remember an old Apple ad featuring Bill and Hillary Clinton and their PowerBooks, this would have been mid to late 1990’s. Also, I’m very happy to see that the man I helped elect to be our next President uses a Mac, not to mention many of his “global peers.”

mikeI am pretty surprised that Sergey and Larry are Mac users. I figured they would be Linux guys.

MacOS is *nix under the covers, so makes a lot of sense to use a mac as a desktop if you are usually in *nix environments.

Where’s my name? ;) I should own part of Apple!

This is a great list. Good to not see them in the “I’m a PC” commercials.

Linux is great, and offers a (free) alternative to Windows and all the Vista woes if you’re in the same boat with most people and can’t seem to find a new computer off the shelf with good ol’ Windows XP on it. However, I think where the “Google Guys” surprise you is that they run Linux, live Linux, and profit from Linux but Linux still isn’t 100% all there when it comes to full desktop-kung-foo.

I think at the end of the day, Sergey and Larry just want something that works without any hitch. I’m sure they see enough of Linux during the work week. I was surprised myself, however being in the ranks of “computer guru,” they, like most of us, find ourselves wanting a little bit of everything, Mac, Windows, Linux, etc.
