Apple Buying Social Networks?

Apple Twitters?

The rumors are flying around that Apple, Inc. is looking into offering a large amount of cash and stock to social network smash hit Twitter which will more than likely become a part of the MobileMe service. The tech blogosphere is fired up with word from reliable sources that “Apple is in late stage negotiations to buy Twitter and is hoping to announce it at WWDC in June.” In my opinion, this is a big step for Twitter, who’s super clean catchy feel fits right into the Apple family. Just like Google and YouTube, Apple and Twitter should be a welcomed sight to Mac, iPod and iPhone users. My mind is filled with all the things a gigantic company like Apple could do to Twitter. Yes, there could be some bad things they could do and the bird could possibly choke on apple seeeds (Cheesy, I know!), but damn — I’m looking forward to this more than other recent merger rumors (Sorry, Yahoo).

Deep fried Apple Twitters. Yummy!

Apple likes simple and Twitter is simple. I think that’s one of the strongest points in this moving from rumor to reality. And just like on Mac OS X Server, you have your own internal IM client/server — now with MobileMe you can have your own platform that works across the Internet.

Sounds good to me! You know, if Apple bought Twitter I’d actually sign up for an account.

I could definitely see this working to the users advantage. I mean, who doesn’t like integration? I just hope Apple doesn’t screw with Twitter’s simplicity and bullshit-free environment, although I think they’re smart enough to do nothing of the sort.
