µTorrent is the most popular BitTorrent client for Windows, and recently it moved to beta for the Mac. A new beta of the application (labeled as 0.9.3.10) went live this month and features a revised interface and native code (meaning it was developed in Cocoa). The new beta also includes an enhanced torrent info panel, tweaks to µTP, support for magnet links, and a raft of bugfixes.
Most Mac users will probably still prefer Transmission, which also aims to be lightweight. However, uTorrent is worth a look if you download many torrents at once, as its new interface is more suited for the job. Also, if you’re a Windows switcher looking for a familiar BitTorrent client, µTorrent is a good option.
The new beta of µTorrent is available here.

I’ve always been a µTorrent fan on Windows, but the µTorrent beta for OS X completely rubbed me the wrong way (when it was initially released, that is). Now that there is a much improved beta, I think I can give µTorrent another chance on OS X. Transmission isn’t too great, so it shouldn’t be too hard for µTorrent to overtake it. Now if only an improved version of Peer Guardian 2 could be released on OS X for those legally questionable downloads…
Note: In Windows, the micro key hotkey is Alt+230. Hold down Alt and type 230. Then release Alt and µ will appear.
